Not All Browsers Are Created Equal

For many users, the browser their computer came with is the browser they will continue to use.

However, there are many more to choose from, all with their own pros and cons.

Some questions you may consider when deciding on your choice of browser, or browsers, may be:

·        Do you often have multiple tabs open at once?
·        Does speed to load rate highly for you?
·        Is security a key requirement?

For our Windows 10 users, the choice of compatible browsers ranges from Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Vivaldi, Internet Explorer and more. You can use multiple browsers and switch to whichever suits your needs and usage.

What’s so great about Edge?

Windows 10 default browser is Edge. It’s smarter, faster and shinier than the much reviled Internet Explorer. However, your computer will still ship with Internet Explorer 11 to enable compatibility with websites that are written for IE, so don’t be too quick to dismiss it.

You can use more than one browser as some work better for different tasks. For example, Edge is great for video and streaming because it supports higher resolutions. The Reader Mode is also pretty awesome and a much less distracting reader experience.

Other Browser Pro’s and Con’s

Chrome is currently the most popular and the most secure browser. It provides the best support for web standards but can use a lot of memory and battery.

Firefox is generally as fast as Chrome but is much better at handling tabs. You can scroll through dozens of tabs and pick from a drop-down list, or find them by typing the site’s name into the address bar and selecting “Switch to tab”. It also uses less memory than Chrome.

Vivaldi is often preferred to Chrome for handling tabs better, showing full previews when you hover the mouse over a tab and is generally more configurable.

Opera‘s latest version has built-in ad blockers, no extensions needed. It also has a power saving mode that claims it can save up to 50% of your battery life, very handy if you’re regularly mobile with your laptop.

Multiple browser strategies

If you’re serious about getting the best performance from your online time, we advise a two or three browser strategy. Evaluate your online habits, look into the strengths of each browser and use those that do the best job for your needs.

Happy browsing!
